"Attachment is a unifying principle that reaches from the biological depths of our being to its furthest spiritual reaches."
        - Jeremy Holmes

We are social creatures.  It started as a way to stay safe and has evolved into the basis of the way we experience the world.  And attachment starts early in life.  From day one we are looking for connection with our caregiver to stay safe and cared for.  When we aren't cared for, it creates a deficit we try to increase in adulthood.

Looking at our thoughts and behaviors as an unmet need helps us to understand our motivation and gives us an outline of how to nurture ourselves and our current attachments.
